Here are some of the questions that crop up most often from people wanting to know more about how Hashing Rocks works. If you have a quesition that is not covered here, please drop us a line either on our WhatsApp group or by email, using the links located at the bottom of this page.
Guitar - at least be able to play three chords reasonably proficiently. Any more is a bonus!
Bass - nothing too fancy required.
Drummer - you need to be able to manage a simple 4/4 rock beat.
Vocals - if you can hit the note, that's all that is required.
Keys - be able to play at least backing chords. Sight reading not a pre-requisite.
Other- if you can alreay play another instrument then you are probably already plenty good enough for Hashing Rocks
No, in spite of the name, Hashing Rocks is open to anyone provided that they have been introduced by a hasher. So if you have a music buddy who wants to team up with you in a band, please bring them along.
We have deliberately targeted this program at musicians who are not well served by the live music community as a whole, i.e. rock and pop. If you are into folk, jazz, big band, ukulele, etc, then there are already many live music options available to you. Please contact us if you would like more information about, for example, ukulele groups in your local area.
Not as such, no. Members of the Urbane Foxes will be on hand if required at some of the rehearsal sessions to provide advice on various aspects of performing live and song arrangment. We will also help you with locating sheet music, lyric sheets and guitar tabs for your chosen songs and point you to useful tutorial videos on YouTube. If you think you might require more professional tuition on your instrument, we can if necessary arrange this with local music teachers.
